Rumble Series Midget and Outlaw Modified Entries Released On The Entry Section Of www.rumbleseries.com


FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Entry forms have been released for both the midget
and winged outlaw modified midget divisions for the Rumble in Fort
Wayne indoor racing event.

Rumble Series president Tony Barhorst also released an updated rules
package for both the divisions. The 12th annual Rumble in Fort Wayne
is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 26 and Sunday, Dec. 27 at the Memorial
Coliseum Expo Center, 4000 Parnell Ave., with an optional load-in from
5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 25.

Barhorst said the rules were developed after conversations with teams
and officials over the past several months.

“The interesting part of the midget portion of our events is fans will
see cars that have been declared illegal by other sanctioning bodies,"
he said. "We counted 19 different engine and chassis combinations at
our events. Such variety is rare in today’s racing world.

"I want to assure all competitors that the goal here is to take all
the variety we have and still have close racing to showcase to the
public. I ask that teams have patience and realize this is a process
that I felt needed to be implemented to enhance the event in the long
run. I make changes very rarely.

“Everyone may not agree with these rules, but they are steps taken to
maximize competition between all. I realize some of these changes
themselves cost money, but to help offset that, I have increased the
pay throughout both series' starting lineup each day the last two
years.

In regard to the outlaw modified midget changes, the goal is simple.

"They are intended to make the traditional dirt car more competitive,"
Barhorst said. "The last few years has seen more specialized
pavement-type cars move into the picture. When it comes to modified
midgets in the Midwest, there is no such thing as asphalt cars. The
Rumble Series 600s has been all about the dirt cars."

The midgets and winged outlaw modified midgets will join the MiniCup
stock cars, Jr. Sprints, karts and quarter midgets in the two-day
program at the Expo Center, with complete shows each day.

Tony Stewart and Lou Cicconi Jr. won the midget features last year at
the 1/6-mile track. John Ivy and Erick Rudolph won the modified midget
features.

“I am committed to move with these cars and teams forward into the
public spotlight in the winter,” Barhorst said. “We hope to continue
to have their support to progress the sport before more fans."

Teams in all classes may load in from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 25.
Load-in will continue at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, with practice
beginning at 9:45 a.m. The features will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Sunday’s program is a matinee with the main events at 3 p.m.
