You gotta love the format used for the sprinters last night. No time trials, every spot matters in the heats and qualifiers to line-up the mains, and the B main cars start at the rear of the field. I love the heat racing at a normal USAC show with the invert 8, but this is awesome. Ohh, and it works good for the ASCS 360w cars too.

I had a hard time following the posts on the other thread and how they were lined up for heats. Then what was the qualifier race and how were they lined up?

They got points for passing and were they finished, that set up the qualifier same points for that, top 20 in points after that were in the "A" the rest went to the "B" 4 cars came out of the "B" and lined up at the rear and thats your 24 car field.

The format benefits the guys that know how to race but cannot qualify very well. Hockett is a perfect example of someone that benefits from the format.

I wonder why, that when the race was sanctioned by the Sprint Bandits it paid $30K to win, and now, under USAC's regime, using the same format as the Bandits, (that everyone seems to REALLY love), but now only pays $15K?

I for one, vote for all races to run the heat race, qualifier format, where passing actually means something.
