I don't know if it's just this track's configuration, the prep that's done on it or a combination of the two, but VCS is becoming consistently one of the raciest joints in the area. The first two heats just let you know that it was gonna be one of those nights. Both ended with you knowing which four cars had transferred, just not what the finishing order was. They were that close. In the B-Main, the fierce battle for the last transfer spot was intense and lasted nearly the entire race. And then the feature was full of twists and turns. Windom looked to be checking out from the drop of the green, but was reeled in and overtaken by Stanbrough, who in turn was caught and passed by a very fast Bryan Clauson. Just when it looked like BC was in the cat bird's seat, the two-time driver of the year fought back and seized back the top spot for good. It was much like a great prize fight. One of those where the seasoned champ gets knocked on his ass by the young challenger, yet gets up off the canvas to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. He's starting to look like the Jon Stanbrough we've all been accustomed to and whether you root for him or not, your ticket's worth a little more with that guy in the field. And everybody's season will be a little bit better with the emergence of VCS, under it's new management.

What a nice appetizer before the main course, Indiana Midget Week.

That was my first time back to VCS since the sprint cars have started to run there and wow. The heat races were some of the best races I have seen in a long time, the track prep was great and was very racey. I will definately be back more this year when my schedule allows.

Just to echo what Jerry already mentioned. The track was in excellent shape and it remained that way all night. The heats were very racey and the final semi transfer positions were in doubt up to the A lot of racing through out the pack in the feature in addition to what Jerry already mentioned. I am glad that I made the trip over this evening. Now lets keep the weather away and get the program in tomorrow night.

I also got to meet Shortbus and Lloyd. Shortbus looks great and he said that he feels great. In addition to Jerry I also saw other IOW members mainly Mowerman, Chuck Nungester & dirtnonwingfan. Andrew S. Quinn was in the house but I didn't get a chance to say hello.

I wish I could have gotten over to say hi to everyone. But with fighting with the timing light and then scoring, it didn't leave any time. Glad to see a great turnout of fans and racers

D.Os Videos really don't do the place justice. That or the tracks never been prepped that good. From D.Os vids it looks like the top always goes away and it eventually did tonight, Im thinking a little Rake and water of the top prior to consis and that track will be a three grover all the time. Slash asked me what I thought of it. I said I don't know till I see some racin and that it kinda reminds me of the OLD BURG without a straightaway in sight.

The first two heats and I said I LOVE IT! Seriously I bet the top four were within a tenth across the line.. Feature was WINDOM rippin it as only a cushion rider can do. Only to be overtaken by a slightly better *ON THIS NIGHT* Cushion Rider B. CLauson. Jon actually grabbed second from BC early but BC hung it out and took off, Ran down Windom and was running off untill the silent one ran the middle to perfection and took the lead and never relinquished.

I rode my Bike today, Starting with a 50 mile ride to KY and back. The total trip each way from Kings Island Ohio to VCS was 237 miles. In totall I got over 500 miles in on the bike. Spent about 5*GREAT* hours at VCS, Drove all the way home on the bike following the quickest Semis I could find, (ILL let them hit the night critters thank you very much) and made it home at 5am. I didn't rush stopping several times which made the ride home much less exhausting than the ride up. Stopped at a rest area in Batesville IN and when I came out it was drizzling. I was like "GO EAST MIDDLE AGED MAN!" "GO EAST" five miles own the road and the drizzle ceased and the rest of my ride was dry till I opened the garage door, Walked the bike inside, wiped it down and walked out of the garage to a steady rain I lucked out!

I really don't know how so many tracks can survive saturday night racing. I think VCS will be one that does!

It was nice to see Mike, Lloyd, The Short Bus! probably going to have to rest up a bit for Terre sat. Finally met Mowerman for a short and was that you Andrew.S Quinn I was chatting with most of the night?

P.S. Thanks for a great time. VCS and the other fans in attendance.

Chuck, feelings slightly Slashed And wondering how many qualification laps Nunn's gonna give em

Not unless you are really 2 guys, both with Australian accents.

And I did see Mudpacker sitting way down at the end from me,but as he noted, we didnt cross paths to say hello.

Racing was fabulous all night long. Having just to classes of cars was the deciding point for me to either go or not go. I start work at 4am Indy time,so I need to go to a fast paced program on any night I go,and have to work the next day. I did manage about 1 1/2 hrs of sleep in my works parking lot.

Have to note that concessions are very reasonable, got a cheeseburger, water, and fries for $5.00. One of my Aussie buddys told me he had to ask the price again when he bought a drink and a hot dog ,as he thought he wasnt getting charged properly,as it was to reasonable a price for him.

There were a few glitches during the night, and hopefully they will be worked on for keeping the program moving along, but as noted, the racing was top notch.

Hopefully the rest on Illinois Sprintweek is a success as well. I wanted to do all of their races, but with conflicts in my own back yard,I cant do it this year.

I officially wanted to toss the timing system out the announcers booth door. I don't think I've ever been as frustrated at a race track
