USAC MIDGETS AND SAFETY KLEEN SPRINT CARS ON TAP THIS FRIDAY NIGHT JUNE 12TH AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

Bloomington, Ind-June 6th, 2009- Midget racers from literally around the world will converge on Bloomington Speedway this Friday night, June 12th for the third leg of the 2009 edition of "USAC Indiana Midget Week". Coming into the 2009 version of Indiana Midget Week, Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. will attempt to defend his Indiana Midget Week championship against the ultra-competitive challengers of the USAC National Midget Series. Nine drivers currently sit within 100 points of the current USAC National Midget points leader Darren Hagen of Riverside, California as they come into USAC Indiana Midget Week. The mini series starts Wednesday night June 10th at the Gas City I69 Speedway, Twin Cities Raceway Park on Thursday June 11th, Bloomington Speedway on Friday June 12th, Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday June 13th, and finishes out on Sunday June 14th at the Kokomo Speedway.

Last years edition of USAC Indiana Midget Week at Bloomington Speedway brought 48 entries from the United States even outside the United States, with Davey Ray claiming the win over Brad Sweet and Cole Whitt. Look for a strong contingent of USAC Midget racers to try their hand at the tough 1/4 mile bullring of the Bloomington Speedway.

To add to the Open Wheel lovers excitement, the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division will be on hand with the USAC National Midgets to provide an exciting night of open wheel action.

In previous action at Bloomington Speedway, Jeff Bland, Jr. led the final 100 feet of the Safety Kleen Sprint Car feature, and claimed the win over Jon Stanbrough, Chad Boat, Ty Deckard, and Logan Hupp. In O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified action, Shelby Miles unloaded his brand new Bob Pierce Race Car and picked up the win over Clint DeMoss, Brad Barrow, John DeMoss, and Josh Eads. Lee Hobbs picked up his first victory of the season at Bloomington in the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stocks over Kevin Arthur, Clayton Perry, Jason Thomas, and Greg Amick.

Current Bloomington Speedway points standings sees Brady Short holding a scant two point advantage over Jeff Bland, Jr. in the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division. Ty Deckard sits third with Brent Beauchamp fourth, and Ethan Barrow fifth. In O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified points, less than ten points seperates points leader Kent Robinson from second place Clint Demoss, and third place Josh Eads. John DeMoss and Matt Bex rounds out the top five. Clayton Perry took over the points lead from Troy Clark in the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock division. He currently holds a two point advantage over Clark, with Brad Cummings, Lee Hobbs, and Jack Frye completing the top five.

Pit Gates open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands 5:30 p.m., Hot Laps 6:30 p.m., Racing at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 & Under FREE general admission with paid adult, General Admission $20, Pit Admission $30.
