Just read on another site that Jennerstown Speedway in Western PA. is closing down for the year. While I know this has little effect on most of the IOW membership, I think it is sad news. I always thought Jennerstown was a great facility when we ran there with the ISMA supermodifieds. I hate to see any race track or racing organization falling on hard times.

Patti,
That makes two quality tracks in the region that won't even be opening their gates this year. It was announced earlier that Mansfield (OH) Speedway would not be having racing in 2009. They did, however move an ARCA race there under the promotion of another individual.
I have never been to Jennerstown but from the folks that I have talked with that have been there, said it was a quality facility. Hopefully it will be short term and things change for the better. I am sure that you will hear of more tracks like this in 2009.

The track is for sell. The guy who ownes it need to get out to run his business. It's great track. Have seen ISMA, NASCAR Mods and ARDC midgets there. Have to say the Super and Mods put on some great racing. Sure wish Piney was still around to run the place.

Mike, thanks I was aware that Mansfield had been dropped from the ISMA schedule this year. It was my understanding that they also were not opening up this year.
Both Mansfield and Jennerstown have run ISMA supermodified shows so I have a strong interest in what happends to these tracks.
Casa Grande here in AZ. is also not opening this year, I have been to that track with my friends sprint car and this year we would have run the late model there.
Any race track lost effects no only the owners of the facility, but also the competitors that would run there.
Davidm, thanks I didn't realize Jennerstown was for sale. I found the information about it closing on another website, there was no mention of it being for sale. Hopefully someone will buy it and open it back up in a timely fashion. It is a great facility or at least it was the last time I was there. It was one of my favorite tracks to run at, Piney was wonderful to all of us.
