I love full up 410 sprints or late models. The wheel pulling rooster tail throwing bombs on dirt that either can and do have the HP to be more than adaquate to a car or drivers needs to win, pass, whatever. Often on a slick you gotta be a peddal master to hook up. On a tacky balls of steel to hold to floor.
Lots of classes out there, Several 360 classes some that cost almost as much. Some LS based crate motors. All I've found lacking somewhere. Mostly enough torque and horsepower for tacky. The can rarely have enough to make a pass. be able to hold floor and pass for a lead. Some are train classes. a leader with nobody able to gain or lose unless a misake is made.
Hellcat Chrysler motors, Coyote fords Roush engiines. Some of these are equal or more HP factory based and covered for various racing. Dodge will cover the deamon motor warranty for drag racing, You can rip em dozens of times a year. Hit low 8s covered. Coyotee covered for road and circut racing. Great hp 900+ Roush. many engines for road racing, nascar other racing and home use. lots of HP long lasting.
Would it hold up, Match 410s? Or he LM motors that are higher CID?
A Dry sump help match equal to totays 410s?
The motors are beast, Matching or beating todays 410 but half the cost each for most. Modern full 410s are 70k plus. A hellcat starts at 18k tops about 35k deamon version. Coyote 35-50k Roush simular to more.
Can they match the 4-10 races top wingers get before a 10k or more rebuild or 15-25 non wingers get before simular cost rebuilds?
Could you run one aganst 410s?
Rules and cost and constraint by rules. I was told 30 plus years ago by Byron Reeds dad. Oh yeah, We now got Dodge that can beat the chevy. Forces a higher cost dodge and higher cost chevy due to 10k more per motor over 10hp. Seems like its been a grand per Horsepower since the early 90s, then at 40k a beast motor, now 80k
Would it work, last? be equal or better, Certainly cheaper. Like Amercan racers are a hundered less than hoosiers per corner but sanctons and track rules force the more exensive now monopoly Hoosier.
This sport is dying slow. But dying cost all around hurtng both racecar owners and fans. Many owners joining forces to run one car instead of three. two cars instead of maybe two they once owned themselves.
Fans go less or just bigger races becuase races with purses worth doing and racing for are now 25 dollar gate or way more.
Just wonderng, Less cost, more cars, Less cost more owners, Less cost less purses needed to be worthy to race for. MORE CARS, Same COMPENTITION. MORE FANS.

Have you thought about electric?
I went to an SCCA Autocross last weekend with my nephew. There were several badass automobiles, but the quickest thing there was a Tesla. My nephew said that was pretty common.

I like this post. Our world today doesn't always operate on common sense as you've pointed out. Sooner or later, truth comes to the forefront but still, some things will change.

Electrics been the quickest five years or more. Still probably wouldn't make a full sprint night. The F 1 version they ran two cars. one car first half. other second.
No sound, That's half a sprint cars world. 90% a Nitro funny car. SOUND. POWER, In your chest power 900hp or 11,000hp. Power. the difference on a sprint car motor and a Nitro on a dragstrp is about 4.5 seconds. I've seen sprint motors in Rail dragsters do 8.3 a Hellcat will run 8.7 stock factory. The deamon version 1100hp IDK.

It is, But I agree with you no matter the cost someone's putting up the $$$
We used to be able to hold five Non win sprint races on a sat all with full 20 car fields or better. A couple would be 30 plus WITHIN say 150 Miles of Indy.
Talked with a few motor heads today The hellcat is designed to do maybe a half to hour of 8-9 seconds runs in a year. Plus burnouts. Up to six or seven runs a night. They may have at 8-9000 rpm. Would never hold up to say Terre Haute where running time in a night could be over a hours worth.
LS they can get close and last. Last better 850hp tops. THey're proven long distance runners but may hit speed for 20 second a lap of 2.5 mile road coarse.
Coyotes could do it but weight more than a sprint by a couple hundred pounds. ERRRT. buzzer. That would knock a second a lap off
The initial Dodge sprint motors were 40-50 more than most of the chevy's at the time in sprint cars. Karl Kinser got em over the top by honing out the block steel and welding strenght strips on it before they made another cast for a block to match the matchng weight of a chevy. Mark Kinser, Hoffmans, Yelley and others won a ton of races dodge motors. Some still use em today.
The Dodges never were a $$ saver. in fact ir rose the coast about ten grand a fire breather. More exensive for the Dodge. Chevy builders spent and rose the cost to match or beat again
Just convo. Just wondered if we could get same HP for half $$$ it's possible Binks and others are working on things. Reliability isn't there yet. HP and Torque darn close. Binx even did it with the midgets that three and four cylender LS motors cars at Chili Bowl. Said that with dedicated blocks and heads he could make a competive midget motor for 30-35 k. Just not doing it enough to really get a true read. Two chilibowls in three years. The first year they hung, Didn't last. Naida was out night one done for event.

I picture the battery being shaped like current fuel cells. Hot Lap, qualify, and heat race on one battery, then a fresh bullet for the feature. Like a cordless tool battery, just pop it off and stick on a fresh one. Mainly because most tracks don't have the electrical infrastructure for everyone to have a charger in the pits.
Solar panels on top of the trailers so they charge going down the road. You could also have chargers built into the hauler's brakes like Hybrids do for cloudy days.
No more push trucks. Just a master power switch, then push the throttle to go like a golf cart.
For sound, I bet you could build in a Jericho Trumpet like on a JU87. I'm assuming the generator thingy will need a cooling fan on it anyhow.
Eventually tracks like Knoxville and Eldora will have massive solar arrays for big race weekends. The upside of that is that they'll be able to sell electricity all the days they're not racing.
