I have some free tickets to the "Open Wheel Opening Day" races at Lucas Oil Raceway Park coming up on August 1.

The LORP website says there will be USAC National Pavement Midget and 500 Sprints.

Anyone have any idea what cars will be there? Are the National Pavement Midges different than the USAC National Midgets? Are many of the National Midget teams also running the Pavement Midget Series?

And what are 500 Sprints? I don't think I've ever heard of them.

I'm just wondering if the free race will be worth an hour drive there and back on a weeknight.

There will be a nice group of cars there. The 500 sprints are a new small tour. The midgets are helped by a group that comes from the Northeast. It will be a fun compact show

Are those the ones that Tobias builds? The 500's. Or have I got them reversed.

No these are regular pavement sprint cars, same ones guys run at the little 500 and elsewhere around the country Bobby Santos, Cody Swanson, Kyle O’Gara, Brian Gerster, and so on and so on

Look up 500 sprint car tour. I would expect Kody Swanson, perhaps Tanner. Tyler Roahrig, Bobby Santos, Kyle O'Gara, for example. I have to say some of the new pavement midgets are spectacular

FREE race/an hour drive? I'd go (if u can)! Support the place and spend a few bucks on concessions

IRP is advertising Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman are racing as well.
