Lernerville / Mercer Doubleheader Weekend

This weekend, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series will attempt to shake the stronghold mother nature has had on the tour. Two race tracks that have long been a staple of the series will play host in the Keystone State. Lernerville Speedway, near Sarver, will be the stage on Friday night June 28. The next night, the traveling outlaws will roll into the newly reopened Michael's Mercer Raceway in Mercer. Both tracks have a long history of sprint car racing. Mercer opened for action in 1951 while Lernerville came about in 1967.

If she were a competitor, mother nature may have locked up the 2019 championship at this point with 7 wins. Fortunately, she does not count, and Dallas Hewitt holds the top spot in the Todd Keen 18. Matt Westfall, in the Marshall Motorsports #33M sits in the runner-up spot on the strength of the season opening win at Atomic and a runner-up at Moler. Dustin Ingle, Justin Owen, and Michael Fischesser round out the current top 5. The 6th through 10th spots belong to Cody Gardner, Dustin Webber, Kory Crabtree, Mike Miller and Steve Little. The rest of the top 15 includes Matt Cooley, Ben Knight, Parker Frederickson, Bill Rose and Shawn Westerfeld.

On Friday at Lernerville, pit gates will open at 4 pm with general admission gates open at 5. General admission is $15. Seniors 65+ are admitted for $12, kids 11-17 are just $10 and kids 10 and under are free. Pit passes are $30.

On Saturday at Mercer, again, pit gates open at 4 with general admission open at 5. Adult general admission is $15. Seniors 60+ are admitted for $13. Kids 13 and under are free. Pit passes will be $35 with senior pit passes (age 60+) being $30.

Mufflers are NOT required either night. We will be using the red AMB transponders courtesy of Precise Racing in Sarver. Please give those guys a big thank you for always helping us with timing and scoring in Pennsylvania!

Remember, the 2019 Hoosier tire rule is now in full effect. All competing cars must be on 4 Hoosier race tires. This is an OPEN Hoosier tire rule. Another change for 2019 is that we now qualify DURING your hot lap session. We invert the fastest 4 cars in each heat race group.

As always with BOSS, there are no membership fees or entry fees. There also is NO minimum weight rule.

The official host hotel for the weekend is the Hampton Inn in Grove City, PA. They have allowed the BOSS teams and fans a discounted rate of $99 plus tax. Remember to ask for the "BOSS Racer's Rate" when booking a room. Rooms will be held at that price until Thursday night at midnight. Please book early, and don't worry, they have a great cancellation policy. In the event of bad weather, rooms can be canceled without penalty until 6 pm on Friday. To book a room, call 724-748-5744 and be sure to hit ZERO to get to the front desk at the hotel itself. Parking will be available across the road at the Timber Creek Restaurant lot after 10 pm and we ask that all rigs be out of their lot by 11am on Saturday.

There will be some drive by security measures by the local police department to keep an eye on equipment overnight. A car wash is located across 79 and an outlet mall with 135 stores is nearby for the ladies. The hotel will have shuttles running Saturday morning to the mall.

Here is the payout breakdown for both events this weekend: 1500, 900, 700, 600, 500, 450, 400, 375, 350, 325, 300, 290, 280, 270, 260, 250, 250, 250, 250, 250. We start 20 cars in the main event. If the totall car count is between 30-39 cars, we will add 2 starters to the feature. If we have 40+ entries, the starting field increases to 24.
