how viable of an idea would a shuttle that goes to local race tracks be? if a ride was a available would you take it? lets say someone has a large passenger van and there was a show a lawrenceburg.....would you think that folks from indy would gather together at a specified time meet at a spot and all ride to the races together...and if the van wasnt full pick a few folks up on the way.......does that sound like a good idea and would you as a race fan find this a convienent and safe way to get to and from the races? just an idea to throw out there.....obviously the more folks you get the cheaper the ride for everyone.....maybe we could get sponsors to put on the side of the thing and we could call it the "Indiana Open Wheel Shuttle"

If someone would let me tag along when they go somewhere going through Terre Haute on weekends, I would be all for it. I might try to talk Shortbus into letting me tag along to some races next year, if he can get a tandem bike.

obviously a schedule could be set out on which track the shuttle would be going to on a given weekend and folks could sign up on a first come first serve basis, or advance registration could work too. i could see this take off for the sprintweek/midget week deal for instance, or for some of the big mscs shows that run on the same weekend.....or just local shows that could be scheduled out from week to week.....

I think in Indy you could make it work. Since I am a terrible night time driver and most races run late, it would be of great benefit. Of course, I don't live in the area so I could not use it. THe gas savings would be good too.

I would drive to Indy and ride from there if we get this up and running for the northern Indiana tracks.

Maybe it's time for the HARF bus trips to come back?

I know there are groups in cincinnati that book a bus charter for an outing to Keenland horse track. On the bus there are coolers allowed and sometimes food served. I could see something like this working out real well. Everyone would meet at a mutual location, sports bar or mall parking lot. Have a TV and DVD player and show races on the way to and from. Basicly a race party on wheels. From the Lawrenceburg parking lot a bus trip to tri-state or gas city or terre haute. Yeah I could see this as a blast.......

I had forgotten to mention this but the Indycar fan club offers bus trips from Indy to many of the IndyCar races. There is a fee of something like $30. They would go to many of the races that are close to Indy like Chicago, Milwaukee, and so forth. It always seemed like a good deal.
