IMRA RETURNS TO SPOON RIVER SATURDAY; BRUNS TAKES SERIES OPENER

The USAC IMRA Midgets return to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. Saturday and Patrick Bruns of Champaign, Ill. will try to remain undefeated as the series heads into its second race of the season.

Bruns captured the season opening race last Saturday night, leading the final two laps of a hotly-contested 20-lap feature at Spoon River. Bruns was the fifth race leader, taking the lead from Mitchell Davis with two laps to go and leading the final two laps for the win over Davis, Dave Anderson, Bart Andrews and Shane Morgan.

Fast qualifier Jeff Mallonee, Gedd Ross, Bruns, Anderson and Davis all led during the 20-lapper.

This Saturday’s originally-scheduled USAC Gulf Coast Midget opener at Bronco Raceway Park in Cleveland, Texas has been cancelled due to the closing of the track.
