BRUNS TAKES IMRA MIDGET OPENER AT CANTON

Canton, IL………Patrick Bruns of Champaign, Ill. captured the debut race of the new IMRA Midget Series Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway, leading the final two laps of a hotly-contested 20-lap feature. Bruns was the fifth race leader, taking the lead from Mitchel Davis on the white-flag lap and leading the final two laps for the win over Davis, Dave Anderson, Bart Andrewsd and Shane Morgan. Fast qualifier Jeff Mallonee, Gedd Ross, Anderson and Davis all led during the 20-lapper.
