What a fantastic race! Shannon Babb passed Billy Moyer Jr. with, I think, two laps to go and hung on to win the 40 lap feature. Bobby Pierce was third. The four heats were great and the mods were excellent as well. Tommy prepares that track so well it's almost a sin. Those boys could run anywhere all night long. Real nice crowd and Tommy hinted there might be more late model shows in the future. I hope so as everytime they have them it's just stellar competition. Sorry for the fender news but Tri-State was rockin' tonight!

That's an open wheel track and the guy posting is an open wheel fan. Anything that happened there and that was posted by this particular fan is relevant. Because he's a long-time poster, just sharing a racing story. Why are you even looking at the thread, then?

I am happy to hear it was a good show. I am also happy to read the results so thanks. Late models are a big part of the history of tss. I would like to see a throwback night with lates and sprints on the same night. I think that would be cool.

Thanks for the support, Jerry. I was so fired up after I'd even gotten home that I just had to tell somebody how much fun it was! I, too, have thought that a "throwback" race with sprints and LM's on the same card would be great, hoosierhillbilly. Maybe some sprint fans would enjoy the LM's and decide to support their shows at Tri-State. Every year these UMP guys put on a great race as even the heats are just so intense. The Summer Nationals schedule is so grueling that the drivers just turn into animals by racing so much. Charles Darwin would be proud as it truly is the "survival of the fittest." I trust Tom and Loris would look at the numbers and see if a "throwback" night makes economic sense.

I went to one of the MSCS/Northern All-Stars shows that they had there. There were so many race fans packed into the backstretch grandstand, I felt like a sardine. And they put on a hell of a show. Both of them.

Tommy Helfrich was a track champion in Late Models at TSS in the 70's and was one of the top LM drivers in the Midwest during the latter 70's and early 80's. Although many people consider TSS a sprint car track, the realty is it was both a sprint car AND late model track. At least when we went in the 70's, sprint cars would pit on the front stretch and race first one week and the Late Models would have the honor the next. Actually IMO, kind of a cool concept.
