I took this photo of Indiana racer Buzz Gregory in sprinter #54, at the Oswego Speedway Classic for supermodifieds back in 1965. Buzz finished 15th out of 40 starters. Ohio's Gordon Dukes won the 1965 Oswego Classic. :Steer

Have a good day...see you at the races, :thumb

1965 - Oswego in it's prime. A pit full of home built supers. Nolan Swift, Armond Holley, Todd Gibson, Norm Mackereth, etc. Some of the best short track racing ever.:thumb Thanks again, Rich!

"Buzz" drove for us a few times, when I was working on the Iddings #93 USAC car.
Very cool guy. Steven "Buzz" Gregory, eventually, became curator of a California car museum and died a few years ago, I believe, in his early 60s.

Dwight, you described that era at Oswego perfectly. My Dad & I never missed a Classic fom the 60's until 1997, his cancer battle prevented him from attending the1998 & 1999 Classic's.

Rich, Thanks for another great photo. I wish I could say I was as excited about the upcoming Classic as I would get in the 60's. Today that same level of competition is missing from Oswego.

Buzzie drove a car that I helped on in the late sixties, and he and I had other interaction over the years. I will guarantee that there was only one like him and that they broke the mold.

I thought that I recognized the car....after blowing up the photo using a picture program, it turns out that the car is the Howell Transportation car, a Trevis Chassised car that Dean Mast used to drive at the Greater Pittsburgh Speedway in Clinton PA...or maybe he drove the Howell #75.....

The Howells Transportation sprinter it is. At the time that Buzz Gregory drove the #54 his teammate Dean Mast drove the # 64 Howells Transportation sprinter at Oswego Speedway Classic in 1965. I have a photo of the # 64 with Dean Mast aboard also.

Have a good day...see you at the races,
