Illini midget title fight ready for showdown at Rockford

ILLINI MIDGET TITLE FIGHT READY FOR SHOWDOWN AT ROCKFORD

After a two week hiatus the Illini Racing Series midgets were ready to do battle at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Illinois for the penultimate race of the 2014 season. 15 midgets were on hand with rookies Mike Stroik and Jimmy Clark Jr starting on the front row.
Clark quickly charged out front and controlled the majority of the race picking up his 3rd career IRS feature win in the #10c MWR Lightning/Ecotec. Clark has looked spectacular is his on the edge driving style this year. In the championship point’s battle, title contender Jason Allen had a troubling race. First , he spun in turn 3 on lap 4, then after charging back through the field on the last lap the car came to a smoking halt with a mechanical problem.
The season finale for the Illini Midgets this Saturday night is at Rockford Speedway as part of the National Short Track Championship! Racing is at 5:05pm. Two time and defending champion Patrick Bruns is looking to make history by becoming the first ever driver to win three straight IRS championships. A possible 300 points are up for grabs and Jason Allen is the only other driver with a shot as he is 198 points behind. Make plans to be a part of our great 50 lapper to end the season!
