The 2013 USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Championship Series season opens with the “Sumar Classic” at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN on Sunday, April 28th.
RW Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian hopes to build off of their momentum from last year’s successful Silver Crown season, having won five out of eight features and the Car Entrant Championship. Jerry Coons Jr., no stranger to victory lane, is back behind the wheel of the #27 on both pavement and dirt. Last season, Coons Jr, won the “Rollie Beale 100,” as well as the “Hoosier Hundred” for the second consecutive year, joining an elite group of drivers to accomplish this feat.
Coons Jr. spoke of his desire to earn the 2013 Silver Crown Championship title after falling short last year by just 12 points, “I'm very excited to get the Silver Crown Series started. We had a great season last year and I had a lot of fun working with Evan. We have great communication and it’s only getting better. I think it's going to make us stronger this year. We have been so close the last two years in the Championship, I don't want to finish 2nd again.”
Also returning this year after an impressive 2012 season, is Bobby Santos III, piloting the #17 on pavement. In his first race aboard the #17, Santos scored a victory in the 2012 Silver Crown season opener, the “Hall of Fame Classic.” Later in the season, Santos backed up that victory with a win in the “J.D. Byrider 100” at the same track, Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
This season, Chris Windom will be joining this impressive lineup of talented drivers, piloting the #17 on dirt and the #7 on pavement. Windom has earned nine USAC National Sprint car feature wins, as well as, victories in the 2011 “Little 500” at Anderson Speedway and the 2010 Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway.
General Manager, Evan Avart, shared his thoughts on the upcoming season, “I feel that our team will be more prepared and understand each other much better now that we have had a full season together. Our drivers understand me and I understand them more. Last year was a phenomenal season and we will try to build on that for the upcoming season. Our engine program is stronger, and a lot of effort has been put forth to maintain and build on the success of 2012 with some of the changes in the series.”
The RW Motorsports team attributes a great deal of their ongoing success to their fans and sponsors who support them through the entire season.
RW Motorsports would like to thank, Curb Records; Wallace Engines; Driven Racing Oil; Hyperco; Steele Performance Parts; K&N; Rod End Supply; Hoosier Tire; Weld Wheels; Lincoln Welders; Winters Performance Products; Wilwood Brakes; Brown & Miller Plumbing; ISC Racers Tape; and Simpson; for their continued support.

Also Evan and his crew give a great shop tour. RW Motorsports recently hosted HARF for our ******** of Officers meeting and all of our members who attended enjoyed themselves and learned alot during the tour. All the best to RW Motorsports and their talented drivers in the upcoming 2013 racing season. We WILL see them plenty in Victory Lane, bob.
