Anybody on here know what's going on with this announcement? Is there going to be any racing? We were planning on running locally and at the MMSA Lightning Sprint Shows. |

Whenever one door closes generally someone else will open up another one. Maybe a little further south this time. Working and getting along with a "Fair Board" could be tuff. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |

we have been racing and not racing at what I like to call "LITTLE SALEM" since the early 90's. When it was first put back together after many years of non use it was intended to be a 4 cylinder race track only. Frankly 8 cylinder cars were then and are today just a little big for the racing surface.
When we started there in the early 90's it was run on Saturday nights up against the area's larger tracks and did quite well. Since all it raced were 4 cylinder cars the fans came to see 4 cylinder racers usually a relative just starting out. Having a 100 plus cars in the pits was not uncommon, 20 mini trucks, 60 or so mini stocks and 30+ 600 mini sprints tended to fill the pits, and with all the relatives coming out to watch the budding race drivers the grand stands were usually full too. But Fair Boards change with every ******** and when new Fair Board members come in the old race track promoters are usually forced out. Since the original founders of "Little Salem" I can count 4 other promoters. The second bunch was composed of parts of the first and carried on in their foot steps and did quite well. The later people came in with their own idea of what it would take to make the track a success and unfortunately none of them have been able to match up to the original promoters success. Times are tough, competition is tougher, if "Little Salem" is fortunate enough to get another promoter, I hope they will look into the history of the track think about the future of the track and put together a successful program.
