Hey guys,
As some of you know, I am a Canadian and therefore pay out the nose for gas, cellphones and taxes. For the last 5-6 years I have used a pay as you go tracfone for voice only when I am on a U.S. racing excursion. This is an old Motorola flip phone that has many negatives to it's limitations and service costs. So this week I got my iPhone unlocked (at a cost of $50) so I can use any GSM pay as you go sim card in my phone. That means I have to choose between T-mobile and AT&T. I know both of my phones would have no service at Eldora, and I can get service in most large cities and on the interstates. So for someone "Following the Corn", should I go with T-Mobile or AT&T? |

I have AT&T and I am going to switch to Verizon. I know this doesn't help ,just don't get 3G in the town I live . If it was me I would go with AT&T.

I have a T-Mobile plan in which I put money in the account, then talk until it's used up, then put more in. Since I only spend $20-30 per year, this works great. However, there are many dead spots, sometimes in unlikely places. I would guess that AT&T has better coverage, but I don't really know.

Thanks for the responses. I've found an AT&T store right when I cross into Detroit. I'm contemplating making my first trip to Bloomington and either Haubstadt or North Vernon on the 19th and 20th.
For me to use my phone in the US, I pay $6.00 /mb. (I would have spent $310 today alone!) Calling home is $1.45 a minute, and text to Canada are $0.75 each. It's nothing out of the ordinary for people to accidentally run up $500 phone bills from roaming. I'll be able to donate all these savings to some new racing T-shirts and hopefully help out some racers! |

I've got a Google Voice number already, so with AT&T I would have to pay $0.49 a minute to call Canada, whereas with Google Voice I can just use my data and it's free. Google Voice is a great service, but it's not available over here.
