Just wondering what some think especially racers.

Should a nice cushion be packed down? If so, Why or when?

I really only think so if it is very low with no room to race or if it has some dangerous curbs to it.

Your thoughts? Thanks!

Packing it in is fine if the cushion is too low on the track or is getting too rowdy. If it is a nice cushion that you can lean on and get some bite when the rest of the track is getting slicker, leave it alone!

From what I've seen over the years is that it is a waste of time trying to do anything to it. Seen it move up half a foot to a foot but it always comes back. It also seems that once the racers have that cushion that is where they are going to put the right rear even after the cushion is knocked down & packed. Case in point Waynesfield-Hewitt Classic.

I like mine packed and placed directly below my posterior, Section "A", Row 15, Seat 1. I get more traction that way.

And now.......I must be off.

Left alone. my car didn't like anything tonight so I had to run halfway over the cushion to get it to grab some forward bite and now I have a slightly bent right side nerf bar to show for it....

If then race cars do it right, a right nice cushion should exhist after hot laps. If everybody starts down low, then moves up every two laps, along with picking up speeds, you will end up with an awesomen surface!
Back in the 60s we had some scary cool fun race trackis!
