Well I hate nothing worse then needles, I'd rather lay down a speedwaybike at 60mph then get a shot. I gotta go shortly to get cortisone shots in both my lumbar spine and neck, wanna play, gotta pay, eventually.

Yes it sucks but it should help. Here's a bright note for you, spine and neck are not the best places to get shots but i use to have to get cortisone shots in the groin.

I don't know how recently you've had them, but it's much better these days. I had some (at a top hospital) a couple of years ago and there was no discomfort at all. They start with a local anesthetic, then progress to the final shot. He had to tell me when he was done, because I never felt it.

Backitin, hope all goes well for you today. I also have a big fear of shots because of a childhood experience. Like Dick I had the shots in my back a few years ago and didn't find it to be as bad as I was expecting it to be. Several doctors have wanted to fuse my neck since 1996 but as long as I continue to get conflicting information from the doctors that isn't going to happend.

Please let us know how you make out and know we are pulling for you to come through this with as little pain as possible.

My lower back was a pin cushion for about 2 years. Cortisone, Facet injections, Discagrams etc. All of'em SUCK. Had my L5-S1 fused about 4years ago, then had a Laminectomy 18 months later. Currently going through spinal decompression therapy to try and get the tingling out of both my legs and feet from the scar tissue, arthritis and bulging disk. Ive seen a couple doctors within the past year or so, both said L4-L5 needs fused/discectomy because the disk is junk. be happy the Cortisone gives you relief, they did NOTHING for me. Oh, and this back brace I wear....I hate it to. LOL All this and I'm only 30!

Me too Tim. The doctor told me he was going give me the shots to help relieve hip pain. When he aimed the needle THERE I sat up hollering Woa Woa Woa. It took him and his nurse a while to convince me that was the way it was done.

Backitin, I really do hope it helps.

A shot to the groin to relieve hip pain, i would have questioned that to! Mine was direct to the groin to take care of the groin.

LOL, Thanks guys, it really went alot better then expected, the staff was good and really I guess I'm a baby when it comes to shots cause it wasnt all that bad. And I might have over exaggerated about the part where I'd rather laydown my speedwaybike at speed, which however is quite the rush when you do it on purpose, or especially fun if someone else says here hold my beer and watch how its done.
