I'm planning a trip to Indy in late May and would like to do some photography work at Bloomington and Paragon from the infield if possible. Not looking for a free pass, just looking for access to the infield for shooting. Will a pit pass gain me access to these areas? If not, who could I contact to see if I can setup something? I've held credentials at several tracks back east and have been a member of the Eastern Motor Sports Press Association in the past. I’m just hoping to find better shooting access then from outside the tracks.

Thanks!

My suggestion is that you contact the tracks yourself, and get them to answer your question.......

I certainly intend to do that. I just wanted to see if I could find out here if it was plausible before I went bothering those at the tracks.

Get ahold of Keith Ford @ Paragon,765-537-2366 or765-537-9326. He is a good guy and,I think, easy to deal with.

As for Bloomington, I shoot there on a regular basis and they have changed their credentialing possibilities a little. You will need to email: redclay@bloomingtonspeedway.com
There you can ask them whether or not you will be able to shoot or not. I work with a newspaper and also do some magazine submissions and they asked me to fax a formal request in on company letterhead. The above email is where you can send questions. You can also call the track at 812-824-7400. I believe Judy Miles is who approved me for this season so you might ask for her.

Good luck and hope to see ya there

My brother-in-law does alot of racing photograpy. When asked about how he got into the infield at some tracks he just pointed to the camera with the large lens and said "Heres my pass"

If you are here around sprint week then all you have to do is follow the "herd" of photogs

when I was shooting/writing for Hoseheads, I just walked into the infield with no questions asked. Most peope see that you have a camera and know what you're doing. Then again, that was 1999-2002.
