Looks more like an engine blowing contest then a race.

My question, why did that pinhead that just blew an engine, keep his foot in it so long, it was obvious it was dead, does he not know to push the clutch in, and cut the ignition? I like ARCA, but damn, someone should come up with a test for these kids, other than the size of their wallet! Bob

Wish Frank could have closed the deal. I thought he had it in the bag coming off of turn 4 but Childress' grandkid had some momentum. Frank can take solace in the fact he and his brother Bill are workin' with a part time pit crew and probably 1 tenth the racing budget resources that Childress has at his disposal and the kid still just barely beat them. I hope the kid shows up at the Illinois dirt tracks in August and September where the big money and high priced crew members doesn't mean quite as much and see how good the kid really is.

I don't care for the rich priviledged racing, but at least the Dillon brothers race mod's and late models on dirt every few weeks. ---------- Post added at 02:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:10 PM ---------- Just noticed my basically duplicate post of racerdog45's. This is Ty Dillon at Volunteer Speedway in a crate race back in 2008. He finished 3rd. High banked track for those who've never been there. ![]() But I guess I would agree I don't like seeing those ARCA kids only run the speedway races. It happens with Toledo every year as well as the mile fairgrounds tracks. |

I'd agree Apex, Frank had the run of things when he was in the 46 car with Larry's resources. Frank, Bill and their Dad ran their own team early in Franks career without much success. There was the R&D Cup developmental programs that ran Daytona, Pocono and Talladega among others back in Frank's heyday but not to the extent they do now. Frank won a couple of the Illinois dirt races since they've been fielding their own cars but this race today is pretty big deal running good against the money boys.
In regards to the Dillon's dirt experience I'v been told by guys who have run the mods and late models and then gave the Cup Style stockers a try on the dirt that it is a whole different world and very little of the experience translates from the mods and dirt lates to the Cup style cars. I really don't hate on these kids with the high financed teams in fact I loved it when Parker Kliggerman swept the ARCA dirt races a couple of years ago in a Penske developmental ARCA program but I still like it when these kids run the full schedule, it's good for ARCA and it's good for the sport. I really didn't know about the George kid and I would have to agree with you about him tearing up equipment but to his credit he did come to Springfield and Du Quoin and that gains him a notch or two in my book.

I saw both of the Dillon's race Volusia this year. The first night Austin started 3rd in his heat with Kenny Wallace in 2nd and Kenny Schrader in 4th. At one point, Austin was about a straightaway ahead in first and won the heat easily. He also won the feature that night. As I was discussing him with some of the local fans, someone remarked that they thought his younger brother was even better. Ty won the feature a night or two later. They both know how to get around a dirt track.
I see that ex-USAC racer Tom Hessert finished 6th today and Dakoda finished 14th. Last but not least, for all of those many Milka Duno fans on the board who were worrying about where she went after the IRL, she finished 19th. Even better, she is going to run for ARCA rookie of the year with Sheltra Motorsports. I know that none of us can wait until the Springfield and DuQuoin races.
