The Clash Comes to Canyon Speedway

Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (April 13th, 2011) – The Clash, a conflict, as between opposing or irreconcilable ideas or simply a battle, one that will be settled when racing gladiators enter the thunder dome of Canyon Speedway for a two day double header April 29th and 30th.

With the previous addition of the April 30th Sunoco Fuels American Sprint Car Series event added to the Canyon Speedway schedule and a rain date needed for the April 9th Tsunami that hit Arizona causing a halt to racing action, the Canyon Clash rises from the waters.

The two day crusade will feature the wingless warriors of the Sunoco Fuels American Sprint Car Series along with the debut of the Western States Stock Car Series, previously scheduled for USA Raceway last Saturday. The small and mighty Southwest Modlites will join the fight along with X-Mods for two complete nights of extreme racing action.

The Canyon Clash will be a battle of heroic measures, nothing less than the March 26th outing that was fiercely fought by former champion Bob Ream Jr. who gave up the lead in the final laps to Josh Pelkey only to be passed by Jeremy Sherman on the white flag lap, giving Sherman his first win at Canyon Speedway in ASCS competition.

The Clash will again be a fierce battle contested by a collection of former Sprint Car Champions like Ream, Pelkey, Sherman and “Chargin” Charles Davis Jr. along with a large cast of Sunoco Fuels ASCS contingent. However, the action will seize fire following Saturday nights waving of the checkered flag as Ellis Racing will host a barbeque for all racers and fans in attendance. The Canyon Clash presented by Ellis Racing will close out the weekend with an after race gathering, bringing the party to the pits and celebrating the weekend.

“We are happy to be able to support ASCS Sprint Car Racing and the entire dirt track racing community,” commented Dave Ellis of Ellis Racing. “I think it is important to bring the racing community together and help build the stability of our sport in Arizona.”

Ellis Racing is an official Hoosier Tire dealer as well as race parts supplier in the Phoenix area and has all your supplies for most racing applications including Sprint Cars, Mini Sprints and Modlites. A long standing race car fabrication company, Ellis Racing has an answer for all your racing needs.

The action at Canyon Speedway resumes this weekend with IMCA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Bombers attacking the clay oval this Saturday night. The following weekend, race fans can celebrate Easter weekend with the stars of the Total Seal Late Models. The 1st Annual Easter Eggstravaganza will lead into the two day Canyon Clash to close out the month of April.

This Saturday’s action will heat up when general admission tickets go on sale at 5pm for only $15 for adults, Senior and Military $13 and children 12 under are always free. Racing will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
