Although we enjoy reading posts daily, this will be our first and only post. It is simply aimed to express our deep appreciation for your support of the Mel Johnson Classic.

First, our family would like to thank Dave and Kim Rudisell along with the entire Lawrenceburg Speedway staff for not only their overwhelming support, but also allowing our family to play a central role in this race. Without their continuous effort this race would not be a possibility. We can not explain in words what this night will mean to both our family and the Rudisells, but we would like to thank you in advance for supporting this race and Lawrenceburg Speedway.

As we attempt to turn back time in Dad’s honor, we have offered an $8 dollar general admission just as he did in his 1st year as promoter. In coordination with this outrageous deal, a HUGE payout will be given to all race teams that has never been matched before.
Every race team will be guaranteed a position in a feature event. The fans will also be treated to a passing points system, double-file restarts, and competitive racing ALL night long. Only heats and features will be run with NO B-mains.

This will definitely be an unbelievable night of racing, but there will be many extra activities throughout the night for the fans. In addition, there will be an auction and special event shirts. All proceeds will be going to Relay for Life to help in the fight against cancer.

Obviously, we want all race fans to come support this race, but we would also like to take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to all individuals that were associated in any way with the ¼ mile track when promoted by Dad. It would mean a great deal to see some old faces, and we know he would be touched.

Before any racing begins on Saturday, we will be hosting a FREE Hog Roast with refreshments to show our appreciation to all the sponsors, fans, and race teams who have helped make this event possible. The Hog Roast will be available from 3-6 on the backstretch.

I hope it's a huge success for the Johnson's and the Rudisells!! We'll be there !!!! This format is a great opportunity for both the fans and the racers to enjoy a night of great racing.

Thanks to the Johnson's and Rudisell's for what should be a great night of racing! I hope turnout for this is high!! I know I will be there and I am telling my coworkers, all of whom are race fans, to get there and support it!
