For the third year in a row, the motorcycle races at Gas City were rained out. Had over 160 riders in the pits.

That really stinks! Hopefully they will find a date this year to be able to get the race in. 160 riders seems really good.

It would help if they actually scheduled them more than 1 time a year. If you only have 1 shot to get it in a year and it rains then you have to wait a whole year to try again. Gas City has done this for years though. Only 1 late model race in the past, and it always got rained out. Only 1 winged sprint race this year and it got rained out. 1 bike race and its rained out. Maybe schedule 2 races and give yourself a chance to get at least 1 of them in. I know its asking a lot for Gas City to schedule something other than non-wing sprint cars, but some nights it would be a good idea. Like the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. They had 21 cars. Why? Because so many drivers were racing at either Anderson or the Indy mile. To me that would be a great night to schedule a late model race or winged sprint race. After sprintweek the car count always drops to around 20 and the crowd goes down also. Instead of running a regular program and getting a poor turnout, do something different and bring some new people to the track. Jiggs used to be great at that, but in recent years its been forgotten.

I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears as it usually does. But that's why I live 1 mile from the track and almost never go.

Thanks for not going, you would bum me out if I had to sit by you and listen to this person....

You cant predict weather when the schedules are made. The regular shows at Gas City are what pays the bills so to speak. The special shows usually cost more to bring in. Wings cost more, late models, ect... Go east and watch that stuff. Its a shame you dont like some of the best racing Indiana has to offer right around the corner from ya.

I've gone for years and I do enjoy it, but the same thing every week gets old. And I don't just mean the sprint cars. I do travel when I have the opportunity. I just remember not too long ago when Gas City would bring in something different in an effort to get new fans to the track. I would imagine that's what they want to do with the motorcycle races. I think they have a very good regular show, but like many race fans I'm beginning to sit out the regular shows and save my money for something I really want to see. Regular shows don't necessarily pay the bills alone. In fact, most tracks make more money off of 1 or 2 specials than all of their regular shows combined. You wouldn't have to sit by me very long because you would probably be in the parking lot most of the night anyway.

You're kidding right? I know people who have moved from areas where they race other things who have moved to this area to see what you complain about. You say you almost never go to Gas City, do you go to Ohio to watch wings and late models? I have been to a lot of tracks in the US, and believe me you could do worse for a home track.
