Can someone educate me on how drivers and owners make their deals with sprints and midgets. How does a driver make a living racing someone elses equipment and how does an owner make out with hiring a driver. I would love to understand. Give me the FACTS and maybe even some scenarios. Thanks. Happy Racing.

Most of the time drivers race on a percentage basis of what they win. Most of the time owners keep 70 or 60% of the winnings and the driver gets 30 or 40% depending on the deal. A lot of owners will pay 50% if their driver wins.

Very good question. The business man in me wonders this all the time. lol. Especially when its a midwestern driver and he's racing in california, Florida, or even in New Jersey like this week.

Josh lives at home and works two jobs;whatever the car makes covers the pit passes and what is left goes in the bank for the next week. When Josh drives the #56 of Mark and Gina Batchledor, Josh drives for free just to be able to race at some places we would normally not be able to race. We could not do this without the fans as there is a "pit fairy" out there that pays for Josh's pit pass. Also, selling t-shirts helps when a fan says keep the change. The sponsor money is gone by the time the season starts as it is used to freshen and buy new, most of our sponsors give us things like ice or dry clean uniforms, we have one that cuts our hair all year, it is also nice when somebody buys Taco Bell and tells you to keep the change. Did I mention we do without a lot so Josh can chase his dream. Next week we will sleep in the trailer so we can run the Illinois deal. I like you wonder how anyone can make it driving a race car for a living, it is a choice we make.

Thanks to everyone that has kept us on the road for sixteen years.
