HOLLY, Mich. – A whirlwind week awaits the BIOBASED US/Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series as they visit two historic Midwestern tracks for three events in a seven-day span.
First up is the Pier Mac Plastics/W & M Manufacturing “King Of The Wings” Sprint Car Challenge at Winchester Speedway on Sunday afternoon, May 23. Winchester is one of the most notable and intimidating racing venues in the world, serving as a perfect host for the lightning-fast winged sprint cars of the Xtreme Sprint Series. Gates open at 10 a.m., with racing getting underway at 2 p.m.
On Wednesday, May 26 the series moves some 50 miles east to Anderson Speedway, one of the fastest quarter-mile tracks in the world. The Must See Racing 60 will feature one of the most frantic races of the season, as a full field of winged sprint cars do battle on the tight confines of the high banks at Anderson Speedway. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
The week is capped off in grand style with the 62nd Pay Less Little 500 at Anderson Speedway on Saturday night, May 29. The classic event will see the sprinters remove their wings for the only time this season, competing for their share of one of the largest purses in short track racing. The Little 500 starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, with practice and qualifying taking place on Wednesday through Friday. Advance race tickets are recommended.
A full complement of racers will assemble for all three events, with defending King of the Wings Dave Steele added to the mix at Winchester. Others expected to vie for the spotlight are Aaron Pierce, recent Xtreme Sprint Series winner at Salem Speedway; defending “60” winner Hank Lower; and perennial fan favorite Jeff Bloom.
A crowded roster of racers will be there to challenge, including Jason Blonde, Troy DeCaire, Ryan Litt, Mike Ling, Tim Cox, Jason Cox, Jimmy McCune, Sondi Eden, Blaze Martin, Bo Hartley, Jacob Wilson, and Travis Miniea, among others.
Fans will look forward to a host of entertaining activities during the events, including a “hands-on” show car, t-shirt and merchandise giveaways, along with driver autograph sessions. At each event, one lucky race fan, will win a day driving a sprint car at the Dirt Track Driving School.
All three events will be telecast on a tape-delayed basis to over 80 million U.S. homes. Well-known broadcaster Rick Benjamin will serve as play-by-play host, while Hall of Fame driver Tom Bigelow will provide color commentary. Longtime writer and broadcaster Dave Argabright will serve as pit reporter.
The Xtreme Sprint Series features powerful winged sprint cars with 800-plus horsepower and are considered the world’s fastest short track racing machines. Based in Holly, Michigan, the series enters its second season of competition in 2010.
The series is presented by North Carolina biotechnology company BIOBASED USA ( www.biobased.us), a leading manufacturer of Soy Soap and other green products. BIOBASED USA is owned and operated by sprint car entrants Don and Suellen Wilshe

It says on their web site that the Salem race will be on TV this Monday. It says DirecTV will carry it. I searched DirecTV for various key words and couldn't find it. I hope I get to see it.

If you have channel 665 which is Comcast Sports Net Chicago on Directv you will be able to see it. There might be other networks on Directv which will carry it but not for sure. Go to www.mustseeracing.com for a complete listing of carriers in your area.

Thanks. I had no idea that CSNC was Chicago Comcast or that it was on my set of channels. :-)

I sense a conundrum here.

May 29 at 530 pm is right around warm ups for the Little 500. As much as I wish everyone could come to Anderson for the race, the reality is that it too will be on tv a few days later.

I appreciate your interest in watching the races on tv. Thank you for supporting the sport and the efforts made to get more interest and exposure for our racing. A rising tide lifts all boats.

man I love these cars at Anderson. Always a great field of cars, but more importantly the cars are COMPETITVE! The feature is set up for alot of passing. The only negative thing is the race flys by so quick. 60 laps in 10 to 15 min. depending on a caution. Only thing I would love to see with the Anderson race is a twin 50. These cars are awsome! The more laps they are out there the better! I will deffinatly be there wed. night. Will we see another track record? I think 3 cars were below the record last year (i could be wrong).

Looking for some info about a couple of drivers.... Will Dave Steele be back this year or is he just a driver coach now?

84 Denny England... I think someone said last year he sold out a while back. Is he totally out of the sport?

22 Doug Heveron I know in 2008 he said he was retiring, did he?

Good point, Scott. Let's hope the Tivo and/or record functions work on everyone's home equipment! There definitely is nothing like 33 sprinters starting 3-wide on a fast high-bank 1/4 mile for 500 laps - IN PERSON!!

[/COLOR]Dave Steele will be at ORP for the Night Before race. Expect Travellin' Troy Decaire to bolt up the Puglio 91.

Denny England stepped away in 2004-2005. He is involved a little with Neuenschwander Racing's 8 car, one of his Vortex chassis built a few years ago. Tim Cox (Swanson 7) also is in a Vortex chassis with vintage bodywork. Geoff Kaiser has a Vortex chassis in the garage, but is not racing it this year.

I don't think Doug Heveron will be in action this year. Tony Elliott will pilot the Nolen 5 car in the 500.
