From ASCOC
Camargo, IL (3-22-10) : 1. Right Rear Tire: One right rear Goodyear 100, 200, or 300 tire per night shall be used for Qualifying, Heat Race, and A-main. The right rear tire will be marked by an All Star Official when the car crosses the scales after qualifying and compound will be noted. If you get a flat right rear tire during the racing program, you are required to replace it with a tire of the same compound. Any flat right rear tire must be checked by an All Star Official and the tire may be confiscated. Teams must notify an All Star Official of a flat right rear tire. You can use a different right rear tire for the C-main, B-main & Dash, but then must use the marked right rear tire for the A-main. If you get a flat right rear tire during Qualifying after one complete lap, you cannot start better than 7th in the heat race. Anyone that changes a right rear tire at anytime due to damage during the night cannot start better than 11th in the A Main. 2. Left Rear Tire: As for the left rear tire, it must be a Goodyear 100, 200, or 300. 3. Tire Softening: Softening of any tire compounds by soaking in a chemical bath or by any other means is strictly prohibited. |

This makes way too much sense for any midget club to understand. Outside of the new midget series in Indiana, when did you ever hear of a mainline midget org even thinking about cutting costs. Plus, it would cut into the precious profits of the monoply tire company (ies).

I know sniffers are not effective on the outside of a tire but what about breaking it down and using it on the inside of a tire i.e. tech?

Now I read in the latest SC@M, in another excellent Dave A. interview, Kevin Miller says USAC sprints will be on one set of tires per event - on pavement. A good start I'd say. Still awaiting the RPM rules...
