There is a new 1000cc upright series in 2008, Bill May promotes the "MIDWEST MINI SPRINT ASSOSIATION" with a scheldule full of $1000.00 to win races this new series seems to be very promising. Engines are to remain stock and will be teched and lead stamped and sealed. This provides for the best competition and lets the true drivers show... Hmm should be interesting watching the mini-sprint numbers get split between the MMSA and the AMSA. Granted the AMSA needs to make some changes but I hate seeing divisions that are already small get made even smaller.

Good thing Logan is moving on up.

The 600 c.c. uprights only run at one track weekly in Indiana and are a little more popular in Ohio where they run two or three tracks weekly.

The reason for starting a 1000 c.c. class is due to the fact that there are no 1200 c.c. motors being produced anymore. The new motors are less expensive, readily available and produce more horsepower without requiring expensive modifications.

Part of me agrees with Jake, I hate to see this happen, but on the other hand I think if the new series wasn't formed, within two years the "traveling" mini sprints will be gone. They truely are a great stepping stone for open wheel racing and with the new series hopefully the future for them will only be positive!!

Just went to their site and read the rules seem like AMSA rules with a few changed words here and there.ummm
Weight rules may be adjusted. Why?
What will the rest of the pay off be and will it depend on the number of cars that show up.
In 2009 where or who will sell the sealed motors and how will you know when you buy them?
AMSA had races at 3 different tracks with a 4th one cancelling. This year will be the same and yes the most will be at Lawrenceburg where they was always the most turn out of cars.
Rules enforced the same for everyone. That didn't always make everyone happy.

$$$ Wins everytime.

$1000 to win will bring them in in droves. Hell, our 360 class races for only $1200!!!

This series looks promising. I will pencil in the Sep. 6 date at Montpelier to check them out. Their earlier Montpelier dates all conflict with major/USAC shows.

I dunno we will just have to give it a try, I never had the money to race competitively with the AMSA, its hard to race against a larger pocket book...not that any racing is cheap, but at least this way it can be a little more fair. Linton and Salem are about the only tracks in Indiana that run the 600cc cars and they run on the same night, I think this series will pull alot of those drivers into moving up to the larger cars. Not to mention I am pretty sure the purses are guaranteed, which will bring the cars...
