Lifetime racing supporter Lillian Kunz passes away

Lillian Kunz the mother of long time Midget and Sprint owners and Crew Chiefs Rusty and Keith Kunz passed away Friday Dec 14th at St. John's Hospice after a lenghtly illness. Lillian was a former scorer for the MARA Midgets and was a fixture in Rusty and Keith's pit at the Chili Bowl and The Belleville Nationals. Other notable members of Lillian's family from the racing community whom Lillian is survived are her son, former midget driver Chuck Kunz, her brother, former Indy 500 Driver and National Midget Hall of Fame inductee Chuck Weyant, her brother and former St. Louis Midget Champion Gene (Stooge) Weyant, her nephew and former St.Louis Midget and MARA Champion Duke DeRosa, her nephew former USAC Sprint car rookie of the year and Eagle Chasis owner Jerry Russell, her nephews, sprint and midget drivers Tony, Mike, Scott and Korey Weyant from the central Illinois area and her Grandson, sprint driver Eddie Lynch. Lil will be missed by all. Lil is survived by her sons Rusty, Keith, Chuck and daughter Karen-Kunz Young.

I can't begin to tell how many times I've seen her at midgets races. I will miss her smile next time I'm BSing with Rusty or Keith at the races.
