Your Thoughts On a Midget Race Night ???

Say that only 16-21 cars show up for a midget event. Not a full feature field. What would you rather see?

Qualifying then two rounds of heat races and then a feature or

Qualifying then one round of heat races, B-main and then a feature. ( no cars being sent home, just giving the slower cars more time to make adjustments and the faster cars less track time )

I don't see any point in burning up tires, running a B-Main, I'd say qualify, 2 rounds of heat races, and a feature, probably not a lot of difference in the outcome, but they'd get to start from different positions, with different cars, for fewer laps total, and maybe get a better chance to ck the adjustments. Just adds a little change up in the program. Bob

with running a b- main you would be only running a few more laps on tires on only a few cars. I went to vernon last week to watch USAC midgets and they ran a b-main with only 20 cars and I thought it was a good show. The cars fought for a good starting spot which made the B feature better and the already qualified faster cars didnt get time on the track to setup there cars which in turn made it harder and better racing for the A feature. Either way i think its a good show

For the tracks that qualify, Straight up one off qualifications, 2 heats Invert six for feature and no consi.

For those that do not qualify.

4 heats, Two each, second inverted from first. Passing points. NO CONSI!

Invert top six of both in feature.

A few years ago they ran two features of 20 laps each with 13 midgets at Montpelier. They reversed the finish of the first feature for the second feature. I liked that idea.

I like the idea of the two 20 lap features. I believe USAC also did that a couple years ago. I believe Dave Steele won it. Its more exciting than a 50 lap feature. The reason that I posted the idea was to get a response for what the fans would like best and i believe that running a b-main is more exciting for the fans. It just seems that the racing is better. Bob, look at what happens during our 2nd set of heat races. Cars dropout, they dont care since they know they are in the feature. After all, midget races lack fans in the stands and I want to get more fans there! If 20 cars show up like in North Vernon, and you run a b-main which puts 18 in the feature you will get better racing for them final spots.
