On Saturday, we ran the new Revolution Racing Chevy ECOtec Midget at Placerville Speedway in Northern CA. Installed in the #98 Stealth owned by Rick Young of Capital City Midgets, we were part of a joint BCRA / Capital City show. The car was piloted by 17 year ol Dillon Silverman of Chico, CA.

After missing all of practice and using qualifying as our only test session. We were all relieved to see the car performing well at the back of the heat, and seeming to keep up with the other cars just fine. Then, with two laps remaining, Mr. Silverman took the new Chevy to the top, and proceeded to drive around every car in the race, on the outside, except for the lead car driven by current #2 in BCRA points, David Prickett. OK.... THAT was not bad....

Back at the pits, our driver reported that the engine seemed to have power at just about any RPM. Our dyno tests back him up on this - the engine produces within 80% of maximum torque from 3000 rpm all the way out to 6200 RPM. We looked everything over, put in a taller gear, and got ready for the main. Starting 16th in a nice full field of cars, Dillon settled in to a nice pace on the now shiny-blue track. Passing cars at a pace of about one every other lap, we were up into 8th place in the later stages of the event. Unfortunately, one of the BCRA cars attempted a slide job on us with two laps to go, and it didn't work out the way he wanted it to. As a result, Dillon had to retire with only two laps remaining.

All in all, a great outing for the new engine. Everything worked, nothing came flying off of it, and we moved forward. In fact, I think we may have passed more cars in the feature than anyone, and I don't think we got passed by anyone. This Friday, we're going to run the car on the pavement at Shasta Speedway as part of a joint show with the BCRA, and some other club I've never heard of.

We are currently putting together a fresh newsletter, with details of our day at Placerville including pictures. We'll also talk about the results of our recent dyno work, and the latest news about the new ASCS Midget division featuring the RRE Chevy ECOtec.
