I am setting the valves on my 305 which had hydruailic lifters and roller tip rockers.I'm unsure of the "correct" method but what i did is go down the firing order, getting each cylinder at top dead center.I tightened the rockers down just so the roller tips could move across the valve tip. From what I understand, they should be set at 0 valve lash. Can anyone please explain the correct method to adjusting these types of valves? thanks, ron cubic

The best way I have found to set hydrualic lifters is to open the exhaust slightly then begin to tighten the intake rocker until you can barely turn the pushrod with your fingers @ this point the lifter is at zero lash then you can tighten the rocker a quarter turn to put the recomended .004 lash needed. simply reverse this to adjust the exhaust valves.

Would I just watch for the spring to start depressing and about how much? First time I attempted this method, I was at TDC and did the pushrod spin like you describe but I found out some of the pushrods hung up a bit and gave me a reading by feel that I wasn't confident in.thanks
