I really don't know much about her, but wasn't the car a deal with Charlie Patterson?

I believe so. I know she passed away several years ago from cancer. She was a African-American woman and I saw her participate only once. She tried but failed to make the show at the Hoosier Hundred I was at one year (guessing early 80's). I also heard she was educated and very intelligent.

That's as much as I remember.

Cheryl Glass was a pretty interesting story. Although she only ran in one dirt champ car event (car broke, she finished 21st) she had one hell of a life.
She didn't actually die of cancer. It probably would have been better if she did. She died in 1997 in Seattle. Pretty sad stuff.

Thanks for correcting my increasingly fading memory David. I knew you would have the info.

Charlie stated his opinion of this deal to Kim and me once.

This was an interesting story. Did anyone ever report why she jumped of that bridge? I would like to have seen a picture of her.

Thanks for the info...

I followed the story via the press back then. Although it is true she went off the bridge, there are a good number of people who question if she actually "jumped", or was assisted. We will probably never know.

Here is a John Mahoney picture of Cheryl Glass from 1982. She finished 21st in the 1982 Hulman Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
