My hope is for a stable Silver Crown division consisting of pavement and dirt, about 12-14 races. And yes, the new Gold Crown cars as well..

But if, IF there would be any truth to this rumor about the going away of the Silver Crown division...how about an overall USAC champion series?

Take the 6-8 strong Silver Crown races, plus the same number of sprint and midget races each. At the end of the season, crown an overall USAC champ.

Regardless, the thought of there not being a dirt car race at DuQuoin on Labor Day weekend would in fact have me looking up to the sky to see what's falling

Are there any weekly tracks big enough to accommodate regular Silver Crown shows? If so then maybe the car count would grow?? I just think that 11 races split between dirt and pavement and spread across the country aren't enough to keep the series going. As it is, a given car will only see the track a maximum of SIX times per year.

There are some weekly tracks that could run Silver Crown cars I think Knoxville, Williams Grove, Manzy, Terre Haute, Eldora, Belleville Ks, Perris.

Just to name a FEW!!

It is to bad that Terre Haute is not on the schedule this year, they should run there at least twice a year one of the better silver crown races to watch.I like to see the cars running right up against the wall.

It just sounds to me like the same old Usac. If you let this division die then Usac is dead. This is the least expensive form of usac racing if watched and handled properly. Just run strictly dirt and have a tire rule. No need to run mre than 12 races a year. Mostly fair races and keep the prices down...

I agree.

The Silver Crown race at Springfield is just about as good as racing can get. It's the one time a year I can spend the entire day with my dad watching him enjoy racing he has been a fan of for over 50 years. Yes the drivers names change, the cars look different, and the numbers have gone down but those cars are special. They have given us fans many days and many nights of great racing, great memories, and during the off season, lots of bench (and bar) racing.

I just can't imagine making a schedule out for vacation and making plans for the races I hope to attend and not seeing a Silver Crown race.

This rumor gets a huge  from me.

Silver Crown race was too expensive for Terre Haute. They lost too much money.
