I'm having a difficult time making up my mind on when to come to Indy this year. I've been looking at the schedule for both Midget Week and Sprint Week. The way the schedule is setup this year for Sprint Week I'm leaning toward Midget Week. I can only swing an early Friday arrival in Indy with a Monday morning departure. I really really want to get to Bloomington this trip as I got rained on last year.

So I'm hoping to pick up some advice or tips on Midget Week. How's the car count, and how does this series differ from Sprint Week? How does the weather differ from June to July? Also is the price to get in the same or less for Midget week.

Thanks,
DavidM

Good choice coming down for midget week. You get to see Midgets which will incude drivers you don't normally see racing in indiana plus some local sprinters that you might not see at Sprint week. The weather, it should be a little cooler in june then july, the proper way to say that would be it is hotter in July. I think the ticket prices are the same, the crowds seemed to be bigger at sprint week.

I agree with Z-man. The midgets put on a great show, and you will also have a lot of sprints. Not as many sprints as Sprint Week, but certainly not short fields. I would go to Midget Week even if there were no sprints included.

You see Sprints as support class, rather than modifieds or street stocks, and the locals put on a great show, too. Some drivers pull double-duty which is always entertaining. :thumb

David,

Midget week would give you the better bang for your buck. It has the USAC National Midget Series along with a local sprint car show. Many of the sprint car drivers from USAC run locally when not competing on the tour. The grandstands aren't quite as full so you can generally find a good seat even if you get there late. Also, Indiana weather is cooler and not as humid normally in June than in July. I enjoy both sprint week and midget week but with midget week you get to see both sprints and midgets where as sprint week you don't get to see the midgets.

With your planned schedule, you will get to see three great tracks as well. Bloomington, Lawrenceburg and Kokomo offer great racing at a very affordable price. Hope to see you in Indiana during either sprint or midget week.

Made up my mind, I'm coming out for Midget week 6-12 to 6-15. This works best for my schedule and it will be my first Midget Week trip. How can I go wrong with midgets and Sprints on the same program! :applaud:

Thanks everyone.

When you go to Lawrenceburg and they throw in a third class. The only track to do this. Talk about greed.

Same for Sprint Week, they are the only track to run a third series.

Dyno Don,

You're right. Lawrenceburg did have a third class last year for Midget Week. And they have the same third class this year, AMSA mini sprints.

2009 is the 3rd season that Dave Rudisell has promoted Lawrenceburg. Dave has never run more than 2 classes in Sprint Week.

Wait, I take that back. He did run AMSA mini sprints & modifieds as Sprint Week support classes in 2007. And it was AMSA mini sprints & UMRA TQ midgets last year for support classes. Maybe you forgot that there were 2 Sprint Week shows at Lawrenceburg in 2007 & 2008.

In the 4 Sprint Week shows that Dave has promoted there has only been 1 support class each night.

2009 USAC sprint dates at Lawrenceburg:
April 18 - USAC sprints & AMSA mini sprints
July 10 - USAC sprints & AMSA mini sprints
October 2 - USAC sprints ($10,00 to win)
