Highland Speedway was my Saturday night track growing up in Southern Illinois. It's been a little while since I.ve been back there but I am also considering going to August race. It's a 5 hour trip for me but I need to get back and check it out.
It was a nice bullring back then and I have friends who say they still enjoy the racing there. It was a late model track for most of the time though they now run some open wheel races as well. I would think that the WOO-LM would put on a good show. I don't know exactly the deal today but this facility was plagued by a neighborhood being built AFTER the track was there and then all of a sudden the noise became an issue. Go figure?? They used to have a curfew but I don't know anything about that if it still exists or not. I would say it should be worth the trip if you enjoy late model racing. I might see you there. Mike

I've been there a few times for SCRA non wing sprints, and MOWA sprints. I've always wanted to see midgets race there.
Its about a 3 hour drive for me. |

Highland is late model country with their weekly late models rotating each Saturday the past few years with I-55 Pevely. I like the venue itself. Nice small town, fairground, covered grandstand...I would think they'll have a packed house and good show

I agree, nice little track. It’s tucked in right in the middle of town, but it doesn’t feel like it. It sits low so the view from the stands is great from above. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Been there a couple times. Illinois bullring. Neat venue as you are down in a valley type of setting. Don’t expect come or Pepsi at the concessions as they serve a local brand called Ski (Mountain Dew knockoff) and its sister flavors. Place has a unique feel to it.
I saw Tyler Reddick win a summer national feature there when he was 16. I’m sure outlaw late models will put on a good show. Type of place a local/regional type stands a chance of winning. |

MOWA puts on decent shows there. IIRC it doesn't do a lot of track maintenence and potholes can develop.
