Ive never been blessed enough to be at the chili bowl yet.So Im wondering on how their process actually works. You have qualifiers for Tues,Wed,Thur, and Fri.What do they do exactly?Run a regular program with cars that have been split up in groups for each night and so many cars from each night make up Saturdays main or what?Im trying not to sound like a complete idiot but Im just wondering how they lock in the cars for Saturday.Im from micros myself so this seems like a different format from the shootout that happened last weekend.:help:

This is the best info I have, if someone knows better please help out.
All drivers are in one of the four qualifying nights, Tuesday through Friday. The format for the qualifying nights is a little different than last year as they had “Last Chance Races” last year. This year they have added two Twin C’s. All drivers draw for their starting position in the 8 heats of 8 laps each. Based on combining their passing points (1.5 points per increase or decrease in position) plus finishing points (52,49,46,43,40,37 etc) all drivers will be assigned to 4 Qualifier Races with most points starting at the front. The top 16 in combined points from the 8 Heats and 4 Qualifiers go straight to the A main. All others (approximately 57) go to the Twin B’s and Twin C’s based on combined points. The top 4 finishers from the Twin C’s go to the tail of the respective Twin B’s. The top 4 finishers from the Twin B’s go to the tail of the A main. The top 3 finishers in the A main from each of the four qualifiying nights start in the front of the Saturday night A main. All other cars from each qualifying night are assigned to the Saturday Championship mains based on combined passing points. There are Twin K through B Championship mains (alphabet soup) with top finishers in each advancing to the next letter in the alphabet as follows: Twin K mains have the top 4 finishers advancing to the Twin J mains. J’s have 4 to I’s, I’s have 4 to H’s, H’s have 4 to G’s, G’s have 4 to F’s, F’s have 4 to E’s, E’s have 4 to D’s. D’s have 5 to C’s, C’s have 5 to B’s, B’s have 6 to the one final A main. :checkered: |

Micro-
If you are not blinded by the exclamation points in the immediate reply, read no further than the answer you got from Dirt Man Bill. His is the definitive answer as to process. Duke got one thing particularly correct: Starting at the back of a heat and advancing without incident is The Total Key to Chili Bowl success. It puts you up front in your preliminary night feature, and gives you a fighting chance. An entire week can be broken by being directly behind a squirrel who either takes you out or sets you back in a heat race. If you start 8th, and 1st,3rd,5th and 7th all get stacked up because the guy who started 1st has no business being there, you get credit for passing them all. If you get caught up in it, and get a flat...You Are F**ked. |
