Matt Rechek took a nasty ride down the backstretch at Angell Park Speedway last night. He was transported but was thankfully released from the hospital.

We were standing next to that camera, everyone was very relieved to see him walk to the ambulance.

The car seems to jump in the air for no apparent reason; did something break?

Yes, very sudden, almost like it ran out of rope!

There is video on Facebook that is slowed down. With all the rain Sunday there was a tall curb along the wall that he climbed.

Yeah, I can see the change in the color of the dirt, makes sense now.

That was definitely it. It was nice to have something sticky to run on, but it did curb up pretty aggressively and made for a technical track. They did the best they could between races to roll the top back down, but it just kept building a lip. I hated that we didn't get the rest of the feature in because the crowd deserved to see another great finish. That light rain was just coming down too steadily and it wasn't going to let us get the show in. Credit to the track and crews for getting us that far into the evening and to the fans for staying with it! We were all waiting in the infield to see if we were going to get to go back out and resume the midget feature after the late models had their big pile up on the front straight. The remaining late models all started to head for the pits, but no one said anything to us at that point. Usually when a crowd senses it's over due to rain, they scatter, but that night, they didn't. They wanted to see more! Cornfest is gonna be a blast!
