Big Five-Card Show at Gas City This Friday! With two rainouts and the Independence Day weekend behind us, everyone is anxious for Gas City I-69 Speedway’s big five-division “Beach Night Bash” show this Friday night. High-flying non-wing sprint cars are on the docket, as is an appearance by the USAC Midget Cup series. The latter includes open midgets, SpeeD2 midgets and 1,000cc mini-sprints. It pays $1,200 to win and $125 just to start. The ground-pounding modifieds will also be on the card, as will the street stock and hornet divisions. Tyler Kendall of Greenfield, Ind., currently leads the sprint car point standings, while Bub Roberts of Warren, Ind., is on top of the modified point standings. Defending champion Andy Bishop of Gas City tops the street stock standings, and James Headley Jr. of Wabash, Ind. is the one to beat in the hornet division. Chett Gehrke of Bardtown, Ky., is currently leading the USAC Midwest regional midget standings. Thomas Meseraull of Waveland, Ind., won the USAC Midget Cup feature at Gas City on May 7, and Bryce Massingill of Troy, Ohio won the USAC SpeeD2 Midwest Thunder midget feature at Gas City on June 4. The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstands at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and the racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Gas City I-69 Speedway offers affordable family entertainment. An adult general admission ticket only costs $15, while kids 12 and under are free. A pit pass costs $30. The complete 2021 schedule and more information are on the track’s website at GasCityI69Speedway.com. Fans and competitors can also follow it on Twitter: @GasCitySpeedway; Instagram: @GasCitySpeedway and Facebook: GasCitySpeedwayOnTheGas. Gas City I-69 Speedway is located on State Road 22, approximately a half-mile west of I-69, exit 259. It is about halfway between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, and attracts drivers and fans from all over the Midwest. |

I’m curious as to why the Midget count for the regional series is down this year, compared to last year?
GC put up a nice purse, yet it didn’t draw anyone out? Again, just curious. Thanks |
