I wanted to let everyone know that I am again organizing a charity auction in conjunction with the “Rumble in Fort Wayne” that will benefit the Kenny Irwin Jr. Memorial Foundation’s Dare to Dream Camp.

The silent auction of racing memorabilia will be held on Friday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 27 at the 11th annual “Rumble in Fort Wayne,” an indoor racing event at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. (Tony Stewart and Billy Wease are the defending champions in midgets.)

Any sort of item that you could donate would be greatly appreciated. Autographed items are especially popular with fans. Teams, sponsors and individuals that contribute items will be acknowledged on the bid sheets as well as on the public address system. Following the event, I will let you know how much was raised.

Donated items may be sent to:

Wendy Atkin
1339 Vester Ave., Apt. 214
Springfield, Ohio 45503

Items also may be dropped off this weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) at the “Buckeye Bowl Indoor Midget Nationals” at the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum in Columbus, Ohio.

All money raised will go directly to Dare to Dream Camp, where underprivileged youth from throughout the Midwest can enjoy camping, fishing, boating and karting. The not-for-profit camp, located near New Castle, Ind., is operated by Kenny’s parents, Kenny Sr. and Reva Irwin, in memory of the late NASCAR and USAC standout.

The indianaopenwheel.com community has been big supporters of the auction since its inception in 2005, and I hope you will be able to help again.

Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions. Thanks.

Wendy, good luck on your auction at the Rumble in 2008. You always have some really nice items and will do a great job helping promote the Kenny Irwin Jr. Memorial Foundation’s Dare to Dream Camp. We look forward to the auction every year at Ft. Wayne. :thumb:applaud:
