AFTER LATE RACE TANGLE, ROA COMES FROM THE BACK TO 11TH AT PERRIS!

(Cypress, CA, May 30) Brody Roa came back from a frustrating late race tangle to finish 11th at the “70th Anniversary Salute to Indy” last Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway.*

Things started off bright enough for the Garden Grove, California veteran and his BR Performance team when he qualified fifth in the 24 car field and placed second in his 10 lap heat race.*

Parlaying the qualifying time with his top four heat race finish earned him the outside front row starting spot for the 30 lap main event.* The 27-year-old took immediate advantage of the opportunity presented and led the first six laps of the race.*

Roa slipped back to second on lap seven, but remained in the thick of a tough three car battle for the lead until a lap 27 restart.* Coming to the green flag the lead car bobbled and Roa, with nowhere to go, got into him and then was hit from behind by another car in a chain reaction crash.* Roa came to a stop on the track and after quick repairs, had to restart at the back with only four laps remaining.* In the limited time to go, he quickly passed several cars, but had to settle for a frustrating 11th place finish.*

Going into the next USAC/CRA race, which will also be at Perris on June 23rd,
Roa is third in the championship point standings. He is only six points out of second and 21 out of first.

While there is a four-week break in the USAC/CRA schedule, Roa and the BRP team will not be resting on their laurels.* Next week they will head to the Midwest for races in the USAC National Sprint Car Series at I 80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on June 8th and the Knoxville Raceway in Iowa on the 9th.* Last year, Roa placed fifth at I 80 and 20th at Knoxville.
