Just saw on the newly liberated Twitter that the Allstar/IRA race in May has been cancelled due to uncertainties surrounding the opening of the facility. This really sucks. Really looking forward to this as it’s as close to a home game there is for us. Anyone have any more info?

The GLSS schedule has it canceled. also. They were originally part of the undercard.

It is such a shame as that is a beautiful facility and probably has been used less than 20 times.

Dirt Oval Route 66 is a one of the nicest racing facilities of any kind we've ever attended. It's less than an hour drive for us. We've supported all the racing held there and have had both good experiences and some not so good. From the outside looking in it's impossible for us to determine why the place seems never to really catch on. As mere spectators we've gotten burned a couple of times (see USAC National Midgets/All Star winged sprint cars a few years ago) but we will still support the place since it's an obvious asset to local racing.

It's perplexing how demo derby's and monster trucks will nearly sell the place out but racing can't seem to be sustained.

I've attended several events at Route 66. enjoyed it every time. seems like it could be a candidate for one of the new internet dirt late model tours FLO/XR

I read an article a couple of years ago after Chicagoland lost its Nascar dates, that the property could eventually be turned into housing development. That track is one of the nicest dirt track facilities around, and it only has a few shows a year. Not too many places have a concrete pit area for the teams
