I hate to say it, but I think the big loser in all of this are the fans. Especially of Ohio and Western PA.

Ironic it is, Sandy. WoO has more going on in Ohio than High Limit (All Stars). Their mid-to-late May schedule actually comes close to an Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

Well, it is what it is.

The Night before Butler on Friday, May 31st I hope is Hartford Speedway in Michigan. Their grandstands are certainly big enough to host a show and the fans there usually support the big National tours there with darn near full capacity crowds.

P.S. I know it's just my opinion, but I hate they shortened the 1/2-mile track to a so called 3/8's. It's still bigger than a 3/8's.
It was never a 1/2 mile. It was a 5/8's. Before they shortened the track, I had a sprint car clocked at 150mph just past the flag stands on the old track a number of years back

2024 Season: Race 1 - April 20th Brownstown (Crate LM). Unlike many I don't discriminate on what racing I choose to watch.

Sandy, I’ve been told that Eldora is actually in Indiana and Sharon is in Pennsylvania. Also Nate I never heard the big track at Hartford called a half. Everyone I’ve ever talked to about it called it a 5/8th’s

They used to refer to Hartford as the wicked 1/2 mile as the tracks nickname. It always made me laugh 😂. We all knew better. I wish it still was a 5/8’s. All those folks who said they would come and race there if the track was shortened was a comet crock. We all knew they were just saying it for really no reason. I like the folks who run the track. Tim and Leah are good people but they ruined that track after they shortened it. Just my opinion.

I was actually working on a couple bomber teams at the time. Pits in the infield. I stopped by Staabs all the time so I knew them guys.

Good times.

Well you see, week after week, the high line never came in at Hartford so racing was generally mid-to-low line. The extra 8th was never used.

I will say this about that, Nate: Although flat, Turns 3 and 4 provide a plethora of lanes throughout the night for racing. The clay seems to be the issue. Dries out quickly and the dust bowl begins. It would have been nice, though, if somehow they could have made the track shorter but KEPT the big track in place. I-96 Speedway tried that for a few years but the exit of Turn 4 on the small track compromised the Exit of Turn 4 on the big track.

However, I-96 Speedway DID have a smaller quarter mile infield track prior to all of this that worked just fine. I watched a All Star Sprint race there one night when the big track could not have been run in due to too much rain earlier in the day. Circa 1996, I think. Joey Saldana won it driving for Art Wendt.
