Yeah right. Since you said it. Who did "they" want to win and did "they" want to lose, and why. Also is this the same "they" that I hear about every year getting rid of Christmas? If you are going to make accusations, back it with facts.

I think grantman made the cryptic comment, all i wanted to know was the rule.i didn't say depends on who is leading.i like it though, adds intrigue.so taken to its ultimate a usac sprint car race could never end if the leader could never get to the finish line before a car spun.it could go on forever.🤔🤔🤔🤔

While this may be true in theory, I feel like at some point usac would do
What NAPCAR did at the brickyard this year and conveniently wait until someone had passed the line. Not mad about it. That race needed to be over and I was happy for kahne. But at some point, if cautions were happening every restart then that checkered flag would wave. That being said, the finish line is the only logical choice on where you end the race.

A tad off topic but a point of discussion nonetheless.

Officials are not hockey referees. If I was officiating and two drivers were going to slug it out, by all means, men, have at it. My job is officiating, not security. If these guys are bigger than me I could be in the hurts real fast if I stepped in. If they are smaller than me, and I take one down and hurt him, I am now on the hook for possible assault (worse case conditions). Who knows WHERE this action could lead.

My viewpoint: Do not confuse officials with track security, the police, or any other big heavy hitters associated with the "contestants" on either side side, or not on either side.

Back on topic...... car takes checkers..... race over. Car does not take checkers..... re-rack 'em and re-stack 'em. Don't complicate it. The problem, though, is will the track "delay" the caution flag/caution lights to allow the leader to cross the line and take the checkers. THAT is the call of the individual track's officials.
