Dang hate to hear they were light on cars. I know Hanks was working to get cars out.

There were 10 cars at Salem. Bobby Santos had a mechanical failure and scratched. 9 cars started the feature.
Gerster set fast time and won. Jimmy McCune finished second.

So sad that they can't get more cars to run in this race. I first attended the Joe James-Pat O'Connor Memorial in 1967. It was a 100 lap race then and every big name driver in USAC was there. I believe Sonny Ates won in the Iddings car, but I'm not sure.
