Little known fact.......sign painter turned great sprint car mechanic from Carlisle, PA, Ricky Werner, was mentored by Karl for a few years. As was Kale Kahne. I guess Karl never quit winning WoO titles when you look at it this way.

It's hard to believe that its been 14 hr's and 11 posts on this winged sprint thread and no negative remarks posted (yet). Maybe the non wing only crowd has noticed the large turnout of racers & fans at these events and recognized the existing support of winged sprints and have chosen to accept, or just ignore it, I hope that's the case.

It's good to see threads of all types of open wheel, sprints & other racers supported on the IOW. we need them all.

There have been 22 different WoO winners so far this season. Schatz has won 22 of the 82 races or almost 27%. He has certainly been dominant but 60 nights someone has been his match.

He has 9 more wins and 13 more top 5s than the next guy.
If you add the next 3 guys they've only won 2 more than Donnie himself.
We r splitting hairs here. The way he's going the number of wins is going to b even higher. (Already north of 25%)
Don't know why I'm pleading his case I'm not even a schatz fan!

That's the # I was looking for. That's ABSOLUTE domination. But I still believe it's kinda "apples n oranges"

I don't know how old you guys are or what, But if you had seen Steve and Karl in their prime. You'd know its no contest. Theres a reason he's the KING. He'd start tail of a heat and be in the lead before the back straight.

Great setup and sheer determination.
And the competition in those days was every bit as tough.

Donnie no doubt is great, He deserves the praise, But to compare him to Best of all time, Wing or not Kinser isn't even fair.

This is the truest statement on here. I was a Sammy fan but, no one could compete fully with Steve night in and night out on EVERY track.
