Thank-you for posting this. I heard that Derek was the team manager on the (GREAT) IMS radio coverage last Sunday (4 hours worth on the AM radio - which I appreciate more & more. WGN 720am out of Chicago has a pretty far range, for those looking on this Sunday and actually they do a lot of Indycar races). The broadcast team gets into topics like this. Davey Hamilton especially, is THE BEST!

The repair is basically the whole point of the video...but he appears to be handling it well and seems to be more organized and get the job done, than "thrashing"...imagine Kat came with sponsorship and maybe an insurance policy and its part of the deal...what else would they be doing for the rest of the week? Heck, maybe the guys get extra pay cuz of the wreck...who knows...there were 34 cars there and there were no wrecks til Monday...somebody had to be 1st...

Poor Derek and that whole team. Racing can be the ultimate or the lowest.
I know for sure. Early 70's and running Jim Malloy in the Thermo King car. Jim was so fast. And Qual day lost him.
Called Fred Gerhadt and told him.Told me to cut the car up in 6 inch pieces. Then drive around at night and put one piece in a dumpster and one in another dumpster, away
from the public. My toughest year at the 500. Ruined the whole year.
Chin up Derek.

They made it out ystrdy (& everyone is running today) - great story about the engine suppliers and everyone working this out (for the other car that was in the wreck)
