If you're traveling 500 miles from Cleveland, why not go dirt midget racing in PA with ARDC? That has to be closer than 500 miles from you.

I just want to wish the ASCT good luck and I hope they are successful.

I hope they can add the midgets to the events at Moler and KC on September 3/4. At this point, I'm planning on driving up from NC to see those races and the midgets would be a great treat (not to mention the fact that Moler and KC would both be great midget venues).

I have no idea about their purses, so I'll take your word as gospel on that.

But even Cleveland to Philly is only about 400 miles. So if they run in western or central PA you may be looking at 100 - 300 miles or so. Not any worse that Cleveland to central or southern IN, right?

Okay, let me rephrase that since you appear to not understand:

Concerning the complete lack of midget races with 500 miles of Cleveland, when was that?

don, do you know what the entire purse breakdown is?
or the fact that most ardc teams dont have to travel 500 miles to race?
or that the central PA racing scene has the most tracks and the most diverse types of racing in the world?
this all adds up to a very tough sell to any and all promoters and tracks.
every other class out there is the competition to ARDC.
that means that we have to compete for shows against big block modifieds, small block modifieds, crate modifieds, speedstrs, 600 and 1000 micros, 410 sprints, super late models, 358 late models, crate late models, mini modifieds, 600 modifieds, outlaw stocks, street stocks, 358 sprints, jasper sprints, 305 sprints, 360 sprints, urc....and on and freakin on....
and we have to do it all on tracks where the fans may like modifieds, or the next track, the fans like late models, or the next track runs a program of only fender cars....ect, ect, ect.
we have to sell an affordable program where the fans will walk out loving what they see and the promoters are able to make a few bucks off the show.
motor and tire rules are set up to help keep the guys out there as affordably as possible and also to be ever mindful of the fact that everyone has to work for a living and cant just take a lot of time off to go racing.
so...for someone from ohio, who has run and won with ardc to say the purse sucks...i guess it just might if you gotta travel 1000 miles round trip.....that would tend to eat into the "bottom line"
but for teams like ours, that only have to travel 1-2 hours to get to most shows, the lack of travel expenses AND the ability to race 20-25 times a season makes the purse a little easier to accept.

the purse WILL work its way up....but with the competition for race dates and the bad impressions ardc has had to work out of over the past few seasons, its all about taking time and rebuilding the reputation, car counts and a fan base....but you ask most any race fan in a 3-4 state area which series puts on the best show and 99% of the time, they all say ARDC....so the effort is working.

in closing, and its gonna sound blunt....ARDC is trying to take care of their own and they are playing by their rules.
you wanna come race with us....bring it...but once its done, dont go bitchin that you were treated unfairly when you know the game going in....cause in the end, its the membership that is gonna be there at the next race, not an outsider.

The only pavement race that X2RA ran was at Anderson. We still have the hat they passed out in the trailer.

C47... I can't run with ARDC for their schedule is way too far for me to travel on a regular basis. I'm not an owner driver like almost all your teams are. Even if I win, the most I would take home would be $400. FACT: Your entry fee/temporary for a non member is way beyond any club in the U.S. A lot of fans would like to see my car run with your group. Making my team start in the back of your 26 car starting field and only 20 laps to get to the front is a problem. The last time my team ran with ARDC we got helplessly caught up in an 12 car wreck trying to get through 20 some cars and it cost me several thousand dollars in repairs. Not happy about that at all. Several of your teams come West and run some of the Midwest shows and the Chili Bowl and are not subjected to that format, but the reverse is not a friendly situation for a non member. I guess I would have to say that if you fans would like to see my car run with ARDC, you need to contact them and suggest they make it a more friendly atmosphere to participate.

actually, you got caught up in the first red flag the club had all year and it was 100% caused by the TERRIBLE track conditions....but you guys had no problem coming from the back for the win the night before.

the wreck at diamond was like watching a restrictor plate nascar wreck....you knew it was coming, it was just a matter of when and it was NO fault of the club OR drivers AND it was in the top end of the mid pack group where it originally started so unless you started 10th or better, chances were that you would have been in it.
as far as the TP....its in line with most other clubs....and usually the tow money offsets the TP.
the handicapping is based on club members who follow the club schedule. guys that come west and to the chili bowl are racing under a totally different handicapping system. and....why would a club that relies on its members to put on the show have to make any kind of adjustments to favor a non member? wouldnt that tend to break down the club loyalty and unity?
guys like loyette and hessert as well as a few others had no problem with any of these issues when they ran with the club. they new the deal going in and just wanted to race.
with that being said, i am not real certain that, faced with the same senario, that i would choose to tow 1000 miles either...but then, most times, i dont have to make that decision
