Anybody on the West Coast remember the deep fired burritos at Ascot? Tasted good and if your car had a radiator leak, you could rub one over the hole and the grease would plug it up so you could drive home (no matter how far you lived)!!! :Steer

It has been a few years since I went to Rolling Wheels, I thought they were salt balls, I KNOW they were potatoes. The green burritos were that good at Manzy. For us old men, Gypsy Mitch's corn on the cob or ice cold watermelon at Terre Haute on a Sunday afternoon . The good old days.

Let's be frank: ALL State Fair races have to be disqualified for the sheer enormity of fresh choices. No weekly track can realistically stand up against the full meals in highly-competitive thoroughfares like an Illinois State Fair, etc. Similarly, to say The Knoxville Nationals is in a class by itself draws the same comparison, as vendors pop up for that one week only with portions and flavors to compete aggressively.
I don't think ANY track has an aroma to match the ribs cooking behind turn four at Manzy. That's just unfair to deal with throughout an entire race card. I concur with Racephoto that the fries at The Grove are the standard-bearer, although many east coast tracks go after them with a similar fresh-cut approach.
The volume of choices at Perris is really impressive, and the Tri-Tip sandwich is a tasty handful, but the prices are very "California".
Generally-speaking, give me a hot dog that is surface-cooked, a cheeseburger that is grilled, french fries that are skin-on/fresh-cut, a beer that is reasonably-priced and really cold, and a soda that isn't mostly ice and syrup.
...But mostly, give me enough time to get to the restaurant or food stop of my choice on the way TO the track so that I am not hungry while there, and I'll bring my own beer, anyway.
Then go to The Frolic afterward.

Oswego's Hoffman hot dogs are the best hot dogs on the planet! Lebanon Valley has the number 1 french fries in my book as well. Also a big fan of the fried dough at Brewerton NY.

The tenderloins at Anderson are good but after a days work on Friday and waiting all day long anything at Gas City will work.As long as my beer has dirt in it and the food is laced with methanol, its all good.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the legendary Frito Chili Pie of the Chili Bowl... It just wouldn't be the Chili Bowl without a Chili Pie... :O:

How about the broasted chicken dinners at the old New Bremen? Best ever.

I remember those chicken dinners! Didn't the local K of C or, VFW (or some group like that) run it, Seadog?

But stay away from the Indiana "walking taco". I have tried one at LPS and another from a vendor at IRP. Oh, man, I was hoping for a Frito Pie type concoction. But no. I think I can still taste them, and it has been years, and wasn't pleasant.
