My heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to the family of Dwight Clock.

To Dwight: I am saddened to hear of you passing away. I have had the distinct pleasure of making your acquaintance thru the IOW messageboard. I have enjoyed reading all your posts and replies. In the two months I have known you on the messageboard it has been fun and very informative. "Thanks for the Memories" - RIP my friend.

What a surprise to open up indianaopenwheel and see this; A surreal feeling that took a minute to register.

You know, what really made me think was when i realized the pit in my stomach is a result of someone I have never met, and have interacted with on but only a few occasions. It made me think of how technology has allowed us to develop networks and relationships with people who we do not even know. The relationships are somewhat superficial, but are heart deep.

Dwight always seemed to be the first one to offer his prayers to any member of this board - so we can be assured that he is in a place where he can hear me, and the rest of us say God Bless and rest in peace.

How sad. I've been busy the last 48 hours or so and hadn't looked at the boards until now.

Dwight and I grew up near each other and are about the same age. I was thinking how nice it was of everyone to send best wishes to all his friends. I consider myself one of his friends, so I took some comfort in all the kind thoughts.

Then I realized, I never actually met Dwight. It just felt like I had. We joked about waving to each other as kids, while at the beaches of Long Island Sound, he on the New York side, while I splashed in the water of Rocky Neck State Park on the Connecticut side. We both ended up in the Midwest, both enjoy the love of our sport and it's history, both enjoy the company of the people we meet on, or through, these boards.

But I never did actually MEET Dwight, could have sworn I did, but I didn't. That's just how he made you feel in discussing a topic. As I said, I consider myself one his friends, and I can only hope he felt the same.

It shouldn't feel this bad to lose someone I never had the pleasure of meeting - in person.

None if us know how many laps we are scheduled to run. From what I read here, Dwight ran a few laps under caution with some health issues. Not the kind of thing he ever burdened us with here on the boards. I missed it when he took the white flag, and now the checkered has waved ending his race. Rest in peace old "friend".

RIP Dwight. I never meet you, but when ever I came to this board, your posts were ones I looked forward to reading. I am saddened to hear that we lost a dear member and a true fan of racing. I am sure you are front row at the Heaven 500. :thumb

Its funny how even though I had never met Dwight or any of the members of this board, I feel like its my racing community family. Its always comforting to open the door and see you all here.

When I would see Dwights posts. You knew it was going to be good and almost always
left me with a smile. Thanks for the memories and I miss you already. :crying:

Last week at Gas City our friend came down to talk to Sarah,Paul Josh and I about his move, the drags, his love for the new job, he also told Josh to hang in there as our luck would change and we would be going forward again.

I remember the first time Dwight came to our pit at Gas City we talked for hours about racing and the way things were going, I took Dwight around and introduced him to the drivers in attendance, the drivers that meet him all said he was special and looked forward to talking to him on race day.

This past winter Dwight came to the house to get the new tee shirt and sweatshirt so he was sure to get one. The few hours he was here seemed like just yesterday as it was like an old friend that stopped by all the time. We will miss you old friend, but I have a feeling you are watching over all of us. :respect:

R.I.P. friend
